Vote on Features

The Vote on Features section is where users influence what gets built next on Firedrake. You can suggest a new feature, read what other users have proposed, and vote for the ideas you want to see developed.

Open this section when you have an idea that would improve the platform, or when you want to support proposals that matter to you.

Why this section matters​

Firedrake evolves based on how people actually use it. Vote on Features turns that feedback into a structured, transparent process instead of scattered requests.

Every idea is visible to the whole community, every approved idea can be voted on, and the ideas with the strongest support are the ones considered for development. This gives users a direct and fair way to shape the roadmap.

What users do in this section​

This section is where users propose ideas and express support for them.

In this section, users can:

  • submit a new feature request;
  • read approved requests from other users;
  • vote for the requests they want to see developed;
  • follow how each request ranks by support.

Suggesting a feature​

Use the Suggest Feature action to submit a new idea.

A request includes:

  • a short title that summarizes the idea;
  • a description that explains what you want and why it would help;
  • an optional image to illustrate the idea.

Keep the title focused and the description clear — a well-explained request is easier for others to understand and support.

Moderation​

Every request is reviewed by the Firedrake team before it becomes public.

  • Approved requests appear in the public list, where everyone can see and vote for them.
  • Rejected requests are not published to the community, and the reason is shown to their author, so you understand why an idea did not move forward.

This step keeps the list relevant and readable and prevents duplicate or unclear entries from crowding it out.

Voting​

Voting is how the community signals which ideas matter most.

  • The author of a request automatically receives one vote for it.
  • Each user can vote once per approved request.
  • Requests are ranked by their total number of votes, so the most supported ideas rise to the top.

How ideas are selected for development​

Support translates directly into priority.

The team takes the top-voted requests into development, prioritizing those that reach at least 10 votes. Voting for the ideas you care about is the most effective way to help them get built.
